As I would expect since there were only 6 total Dome-Dorm-Buffet-Cable Car cars, that every so often Silver Shop for example would be in the shop resulting in the KCZ Buffet Domes in service on the C

The Cal Zephyr (unlike some of the other CB&Q trains) had a remarkably stable consist over its cb&q lifetime .... Just a few sleeper changes - conversions to coaches I believe of the 16 sections ....

Yes and no..... The mix of individual cars in the consist rotated in and out constantly due to routine maintenance and repairs. So for the purposes of the original question, the consist was not real

Zephyrs augmented the cars added in 1952. Which would explain the 'Silver Patio' in the 1969 consist. coaches and repositioned in the consist as government travel shifted to the airlines. This means

This has been a frustrating part of the analysis for me - the photos. I've come to the conclusion that photographers didn't want to take "impure" consists. If you think about it, it makes some sense.

In the early 1960's the original 16 section sleepers were rebuilt to 48 reclining seat chair cars with no external changes. The cars kept their original names. I would drop the consist down to this,
