The westbound counterpart was GI-67. I found a wealth of scheduling info here. I'm pretty sure the train in the photo is eastbound at Stone Avenue.

If I read it right, the GI68 came out of North Platte on the UP, then Q from Grand Island to Chi-town, where it turned into PRR trains AST4 and/or AC2.
