Larry and All,

On the PRR, AC-2 (also sometimes an AC-4) were indeed connections for CB&Q traffic, and AST-4 handled a good bit of reefer traffic, much of which no doubt
came from the UP/CB&Q.   Glad to know of the UP/CB&Q symbol.

The train in the photo at La Grange is WB, correct?  On the PRR in early '68 (right before the PC merger), it would have probably been a section of PR-5 (Conway-Chicago, with western connections).  What would the WB  schedule corresponding to GI-68 have been on the Q?

Fred R.

Tom,

You and Fred may have provided just the clues I was looking for. Doing a search for GI68, I found this in the archives. If I read it right, the GI68 came out of North Platte on the UP, then Q from Grand Island to Chi-town, where it turned into PRR trains AST4 and/or AC2. So that could quite possibly be the train in the photo.

Larry
