Tom, You and Fred may have provided just the clues I was looking for. Doing a search for GI68, I found this in the archives. If I read it right, the GI68 came out of North Platte on the UP, then Q from Grand Island to Chi-town, where it turned into PRR trains AST4 and/or AC2. So that could quite possibly be the train in the photo.
