Rich-
IIRC the correct term (used by railfans....I've never seen any CB&Q
documents refering to a name for the typeface) for the Commuter Service /
SSS / Modernized Silver car lettering is "Ribbon Style". "Ribbonrail"
refers to a early brand of HO track cleaning car and track gauges.
At one of the BRHS meets there was a discussion about the style having come
about from some CB&Q hvywt diners being returned from a Seaboard or ACL
lease and some official commenting on how much he liked the look of the
lettering. It would be nice to document that (with photos of the cars in
Florida service prior to the style being adopted on the Q, etc.).
