Russ, I remember many grayback consists in that time frame that had a GP7/9 spliced in the middle, but not many SD7/9s. As for the SD24's, turbos and main generators were their big problems early on.

Keith and Bob, Yes, there is still a low 1 lane work zone on I-88 with a 45 mph speed limit. I find that a good alternative is US 30 from Aurora west to Rock Falls where one can rejoin I-88 on to I-8
