Greetings all:  According to Frank A. King's "The Missabe Road', some of the 
DM&IR 228 to 237 series went directly west from the Baldwin' Eddystone Plant to 
lease operations on the D&RGW for winter service in early 1943.  The text 
states that the eight original Yellowstones had been used on the Tennessee Pass 
line the previous winter (1941-42) so they too must have traversed the Q at 
some time just to reach Denver. Other Missabe locomotives were leased to the 
Santa Fe, Western Pacific and the Southern Pacific.  No mention I made of the 
Yellowstones double-heading on home rails (which of course is the whole point 
for such a locomotive!)  The wreck of the 224 was probably not received well by 
the home office as the unit (?) was less than a year old. FYI Jim Sandrin
