June 10, 2014 Doug - As I near my seventh decade, memories get a little fuzzy (like an O-1-A with worn valves desperately trying to stay one trip ahead of that brand new EMD GP-7 hot on her cindery trail.....). Yes, that's it, the M&StL and Railfan & Railroad Magazine. Thanks sincerely for the correct routing over the "Louie." Now, I've got to look for that print of the C&O 2-8-8-2 at Red Oak. Best Regards - Louis Louis Zadnichek II Fairhope, AL In a message dated 6/10/2014 2:18:34 P.M. Central Daylight Time, CBQ@yahoogroups.com writes: Louis the CGW did not serve St Louis. But I may know the routing. The C&O sold several 2-8-8-2 articulated steam engines to the UP during WWII. They traveled west under steam, getting on the M&StL at Peoria and going to the CB&Q at Monmouth. A photo of C&O 1550 on Kickapoo Hill (M&StL track) west of Peoria was published in the May 2002 issue of Railfan & Railroad magazine. Doug Harding www.iowacentralrr.org |
