I have ridden in the front seat of a dome quite a few times without 
incident (other than looking ahead once and seeing a headlight on our 
track -- and then noticing we were switching to the other track).

I can confirm that domes on the DZ ran vestibule and dome stairs to 
rear with seats facing forward.
