One thing to remember about the Q E's, E-7 and E-8's not all of them had the stainless steel side panels. I believe all the E-9's were delivered with the panels. Thus you can mix the Proto painted E'

Even with the Amtrak Superliners the Pullman Standard built ones the toilets flushed on to the tracks. Well not exactly, the toilets flushed into a holding tank and then the holding tank would empty

Yes.. the book "From Zephyr to Amtrak" is a good reference book. Poor photo reproduction by today's standards, but over all it's a good book to have for any passenger train fan. It covers the streaml
