The recent discussion of the O5s made me wonder about somthing. If the original O5 tenders from Baldwin were welded, then were the tenders on the 1930 S4s also welded or were they riveted? I have pic

I've found several pictures of freshly painted Q and C&S engines in the Denver Public Library, none of them show white rims. HOWEVER! this does not say anything about how the builders painted the loc

Ken, I try not to discourage fellow modelers, but a K-2 is a pretty tall order. If you don't want to go with a brass model your more or less stuck with kitbashing and scratchbuilding. Mantua has a 4-

I'll agree with on one thing, It's difficult to make a bashed loco look good. If you have the budget, it's much easier just to buy the brass. -EJ

The main differences between the Baldwin (early) 4-8-4s are in the feedwater heaters and the drivers (although the cabs can help in your identification) The early locomotives had a distinctive cylend

If the kit is accurate and reasonably priced the answer is a resounding yes. If it's a generic car don't bother! About a dozen accurate 34' boxes would be a blessing. -Ezekiel Johnson a 34' to him.

I think you are right about the R-4. I think I should point out that the gon in the photo appears to be an all steel drop bottom model. These fell out of favor by the late teens because they corroded
