- Running boards/roofwalks were NOT outlawed by FRA or ICC. The ruling was that IF you had them you had to maintain them. As the use of such walks declined with advent of better braking, etc. most RR's

- I spoke with folks @ the plant - they had 6 such hoppers which are being replaced with some newer used hoppers. 2 were sold for scrap but the cost of moving them (needed 2 cranes to put on flat bed)
