No photos,but an eyewitness description. During the fifties, my father was
the baggageman on the Chicago-Mendota local.  I would ride with him a few
Saturdays a year.  During the Korean War we had two sets of Military
remains, that I remember.  Both were it very large, wood rough boxes.  Each
had an envelope attached at the "head end" of the rough box.  It contained
the information on the remains and the routing info. One rough box was
natural color and the other was a little blue almost grey color.  There were
no external markings on these rough boxes.

At the receiving station, always West of Aurora, it would take the entire
train crew and station agent to lift the rough box out of the baggage car
and on to a baggage cart.  I wonder today as to how they got it off the cart
and into a hearse.  I believe they were too big for a standard hearse.  If
there was an escort, I don't remember seeing one.
