I'm curious about the use of light gray or aluminum paint
applied to some of the Pullman sleepers that were purchased from Pullman after
1947, such as Wadena, Lancaster Club and Happy Hollow Club.
For example, Zephyr Tower is shown in Mike Spoor's Color Guide with Pullman
letterboards (and therefore still a "Pullman" sleeper) in 1964 but painted
light gray or aluminum as were other CB&Q-owned cars, to simulate (and be used
with) the Q's stainless steel lightweight fleet.
Was this paint applied whilst the cars were still owned by Pullman (i.e.
pre-1947) or was it applied after their acquisition?
Whilst on the subject of the ex Pullman cars, was Minnesota Club purchased by
the Q. It appears in Bill Glick's Roster as 678 but it is missing from the
list in Zephyr #22.
