It is important to note that just because the cars are indicated as
being owned by the Q, it doesn't mean that they ran on the Q. A lot
of 12-1s were leased right back to Pullman and ran in the
reconstituted Pullman Pool.
By far the safest means of determining which car to use is to have
consists and/or photos. Preferably both.
You should also check Tom Madden's DB to determine HOW the 12-1s
especially were painted at this time. It's quite possible that some
were painted in a two-tone-grey scheme for pool use. I haven't
looked into that to be honest, as I have been looking at pre-1949
consists lately.
