Thread-topic: [CBQ] CB&Q Ballast car

Gregg

Assuming this is a CB&Q car, I think it would be a MWB-14 as that was the only class with a steel frame and wood superstructure. The numbers for this class were 221500-221749, built at Havelock in 1943. The inside width should be 9’ 5” and the inside height should be 7’ 3”. I’ve attached the diagram from the 1965 diagram book to check against.

This car came with a lot of cars when the Texas State was starting up in the mid 70s. The whole lot came from a scrap company down here called Southwest Car Parts in Longview, TX. I will check the paperwork on Monday when I'm back in the office. Maybe it has the original number on it. Came with a couple of side dump cars, a GN snow dozer, camp car and other misc. cars.
