Hol - Another Q steam locomotive cut-up at NWS&W in Sterling, IL, was
Class M-2-A No. 6132. According to the Corbin book, the 2-10-2 type was sold for
scrap in May 1954. It is shown in the attached image waiting to be dismantled
later the same year. No. 6132 and its sisters were the premier drag freight
locomotives of their era, but didn't stand a chance against the Q's first
generation diesels such as the FTs, F3s and Geeps. Note the locomotive's box-pok
main driver, plus light weight running gear that much reduced track stresses.
