Hi Jim I just called Tom Wilson who writes articles on the history of
Galesburg
for the local newspaper the Galesburg Register. He could not remember who
built
the lake but said the Q used it for some time. He is going to e-mail me an
article later that contains the entire history. My thoughts are that the Lake
was once called Highland Park and I have a post card of a trolley car arriving
at the lake. I am wondering if the Purington Brick yard which is about 1 1/2
miles from the lake might have something to do with the construction. I will
update you when I receive his e-mail. Bud Linroth

The Q built Crescent Lake near Alpha, Illinois in 1906 and sold it to the
Crescent Lake Club for $8000 in 1959.
