Jan,

Several years ago, Bill Glick (San Jose CA) asked me to help him put on an
"EVERYWHERE WEST" gathering at his home for a handful of local Q members. As I
remember it, there were about 10 to 13 attendees. We all brought models and
several individuals brought memorabilia.

Bill hosted the meeting on a Sat, we went out for lunch as a group, exchanged
many ideas about how to build or modify various models to represent Q
equipment, learned more information about lanterns, china and other Q
memorabilia. Told lots of stories. We all had a great time and agreed to try to
meet at least once a year. Some of the attendees are names we all know: Ken
Martin, Al Holck, and others that I have forgotten.

The following year, Bill arranged for a meeting at a local club layout (HO) so
we brought our equipment to run on the layout.

As time went on, we moved to location to other homes, I hosted 2 meeting and Al
Holck hosted a couple. But Bill was the key member behind us getting together.
At one time, we even had someone from Portland Or come down for the day.

At first, we were very good at making the meeting once a year. But then over
time, we skipped a year here and there. The last time we got together was at my
home about 3 or 4 years ago and had about 14 to 16 members show up.

I encourage you to host a meeting, and more importantly, I like the idea of
inviting GN and NP locals as well. We never thought of that, and I know it
could lead to more exchanges that might open up more opportunities for all of
you.

Several years ago, I made contact with one of the owners of Silver Solarium,
which was located between San Jose and Sacramento. He said that if we have a
meeting, he would open the car to us. We have not yet followed thought on his
offer. So, I guess Bill and I should start planning on an "EVERYWHERE WEST"
meeting sometime this summer.

Ray Bedard

San Jose CA
