Paul,
All freights between Chicago and Galesburg were run as extras at
least as far back as the earliest timetable I have which would be 1939.
The times in the operating data sheets were Marketing oriented.
That information was the interface between the Operating Dept.
and the Transportation Dept. It was what was supposed to happen
but it did not create any operational authority nor did it dictate that
trains would be operated exactly as defined. Traffic changes,
weather changes, congestion happens, or business drops off.
