- Tom, If I can ever get my web site published again there are consists from '67 that show the F usage. Generally A's only with anything else in the middle. A F3A-U30B-F7A consist would be common. When

- Russ - One small correction here; F's as the leading unit account they had the lowest "short time rating". Used to bellyache about having an SD-9 lead an SD-45 consist but the "Cadillac" had the lowe

- Didn't the lack of nose mu on the A units have somthing to do with this? (except for the couple that finally received it). I have seen pics of one or two A units trailing. And we used to put #6 and 2

- Gordon, CB&Q GP7, GP9, SD7, & SD9 units, (but not C&S), were built with brake schedule 6BLQ. One of the thing that they did not have was an actuating hose MU capability. Many were straight piped thru

- You may be a little early with your date. I have a shot of BN 784, an F9A, between two hood units taken 21 July 1980 at Little Falls, MN. Not enough of the hood units are visible to get their numbers

- Ray, Thought the questions were about the last years of the CB&Q F units. BN 784 was Ex BN 9818, Exx NP 6704C, Nee NP 7011D a F9A. That unit was a 24-RL-MC-1 unit originally built for passenger servi

- Russ...What I meant about the nose MU capability was having an A unit in the middle of the consist which would naturally be impossible for all except the few that received the equiptment. In my air b

- Gordon, To the best of my knowledge all NP F9A's and most NP FT through F7 A's had nose MU. The GN fleet was also pretty well complete. The CB&Q avoided nose MU on F's and the only reason I can think

- Ken, The traction motors on a diesel-electric motor can only get rid or a certain amount of heat. Beyond that point they will fail by either shorting or the literal melting of the windings. Presuming
