The Q E-units ran through to Havre, Montana on the Western Star/Fast Mail.  As an added bonus, Two E8s were usually spliced with a GN F3/7 B-unit from the 350-370 series passenger pool. This practice was supposedly suspended after the aborted May 1968 Merger.  After the successful Merger of March 1970, the run-through to Havre was reinstated.  Check out the first  two Burlington Northern Annuals for photos of the trains and consists in North Dakota.  Jim Sandrin

GN F's were regular power on trains 97 and 88 in the early 60's.  It was attributed to an agreement the Q had with the GN as it relates to the GN use of Q E units running through to Havre, MT.
