Hello All - You eagle eyed folks have yet to comment on the changed "skyline" on the 953 - the bell has be put behind the stack and a second sand dome has been added. It is piped to deliver sand behind the last driver. Locomotives intended to do a lot of switching would be set up this way - half of their work was in reverse. (I spent many a night 'backward' on a GP7 working the night goat at West Chicago on another railroad) PAW

Pete - I've got a couple of images of No. 954 in service on the Wymore Division in Nebraska. But, I've attached a really more interesting photograph of the 4-6-0 early in its career as an oil-burner in the Black Hills. The undated view shows it riding the turntable at Deadwood, SD. Note the tender fitted with an oil bunker. As it's been discussed some time earlier, some locomotives on the Q were on-and-off-again coal or oil burners as the economic or environmental need arose. I still plan on getting one of your DVDs showing Lines West steam and early diesel power. Merry Christmas - Louis
