Dave - From the heavy rail, robust crossing alarm and storefronts, almost looks to be somewhere in Suburban Territory.  Maybe Bob Campbell can comment.  Also, the lead E5 motor is trailed by two E7s or an E7 and E8, plus a long line of storage mail cars.  Train could be the Nebraska Zephyr.  If so, maybe Bob will recognize one or both of the head end crew tussling with the bandits. A most interesting set of photographs - Louis

Louis,

Archie sent more photos of the event and the lady in white is not Dale Evans.  However, does this image help identify the location?

Dave - Just looked at the image and, YES, it's the Cisco Kid and his horse, at least as I remember them as a child.  I think the cowgirl with her back to the camera could be Dale Evans.  I vaguely recognize the bandit branishing his pistol from Westerns of that era.  The lead unit is an E5.  The trailing unit looks to be an E7, I think. The baggage car barely visible looks to be one of the economy cars built at Havelock. This has to be some kind of charity event to raise funds for a worthy cause on a national level. I've never seen this image nor heard of this event.  Wonder if it appears with details in one of the Q's employee newsletters of that era? GREAT find, Archie! Merry Christmas - Louis

Gene,

You are right!  This photo confirms it is him and his horse!

The Cisco Kid was an actor named Duncan Renaldo.

Don’t know about the crew but the guy on the horse looks like the Cisco Kid and this is probably a publicity shot of some kind.

Hello all,

Archie Hayden obtained several photos of a hold-up and we need help in identifying the crew (attached) being held-up.  If any of you who worked the east end can help, please do so!

Dave
