The old Q wye is still very visible from the ground during the winter
months on the east side of I-35. It is just north of the Missouri state
line.
On the renaming, there was much changing of names of anything that could
be interpreted as Japanese during the early 40s. As an example, the
radio serial Green Hornet's sidekick Kato changed from being Brit Reed's
Japanese valet to Brit Reed's faithful valet with allusion to Kato being
Filipino. This is much like what happened during Word War I to many
things German-related. German American Tank Car Co became General
American Tank Car Co.

Yes, his name was Tojo, not Togo.
Here is a present day aerial of Giles (Togo). The roadbed west of the interstate to Lamoni
is now a bike trail. The only Google reference to Togo remarks that it “seems to be
historical location that has disappeared.” Renaming what appears to have been a
railroad junction rather than an actual town would probably appear that way.
