Yes, his name was Tojo, not Togo. 

Here is a present day aerial of Giles (Togo).  The roadbed west of the 
interstate to Lamoni is now a bike trail.  The only Google reference to Togo 
remarks that it “seems to be historical location that has disappeared.”  
Renaming what appears to have been a railroad junction rather than an actual 
town would probably appear that way.
