[CBQ] CATTLE TRANSIT BY CB&Q

When I worked at the Q general offices as a Tracer Of Lost Revenue. My department head Charles Wright, the nicest, smartest fellow you would ever want to meet or work for.  Cattle shipped by rail had to be de-cared, exercised, fed & watered every so often.  One day Charley comes to me and asked me to check car reports to see if this certain station agent has been getting carloads of Grain???  I reported to Charley that that station had not received any grain in the past 2 years.  Oh really!!  Turns out the Agent wasn't doing his job just holding the cars then sending them on with the cattle unfed an not watered.   So much for that Station Agent... Had the station agent receive he could have sold the gran.  And we mite not have caught him.    Tom Hammer - Tails of the "Q" form the old days.
