The Burlington & Missouri River Railroad was incorporated by Burlington officials in 1854 to build across Iowa from Burlington to Council Bluffs. It was absorbed by the CB&Q in 1873 and ceased to exist as a separate company. The Burlington & Missouri River Railroad in Nebraska was incorporated in 1869 to build from Plattsmouth (just across the Missouri River from Pacific Jct., Iowa, on the former B&MR, and thus the name) west through Lincoln and on westward to a connection with the new transcontinental railroad, the Union Pacific. When that line was completed, it connected with the UP at Kearney. Thereafter the B&MR-Neb. was used by the Burlington to control and operate all Burlington lines west of the Missouri River. It was not absorbed by the Q until 1904. Throughout its existence, and for a good many years after, the B&MR-Neb. was almost universally known as the B&M, causing confusion with the Boston & Maine back in the Northeast. I'm not aware of a Burlington & Missouri Valley.
I've written this without reference material at hand, so the dates may not be exactly right, but they are close.

Question: in recent reading I've seen references to the Burlington and Missouri River and the Burlington and Missouri Valley. Which is correct or are they used in different periods? Thanks.
And thanks for all the pictures.
