I agree with others. During the Q era, I never saw or heard of any reports of GN passenger power on the Q east of the Twin Cities. I did see and photograph GN freight power on the Q in the late 1960s. Usually, they we older F units some of which made one way trips to La Grange as trade ins for new power. New GN locomotives did not go into service on the Q as the old Illinois constitution was still in place and sales tax was charged on heavy equipment delivered in the state. GH power was delivered and placed in service at Minneapolis Junction when it was still owned and operated by the GN. I placed the first group of SD45s (400 - 407) and the SDP40s in service there in June and July, 1966. After the BN merger in March, 1970, the new Illinois constitution was in force and the heavy equipment sales tax dropped. From it's inception, all BN power was placed in service at Clyde yard in Cicero.
