I agree Tom....I well remember seeing St. Joe Fuel Oil signs and trucks on my
many trips to St. Joe in the 40's and 50's...I think they also did "Road
Oiling" ...remember that..happened every summer in small towns and rural areas..

CGW 446 appears to be in St. Joseph, as 6th St. Is visible with Union Depot in
the distance. And the St. Joseph Fuel Oil Co. sign. The company is still at
that same location today.

Pete,
That would be great. I lived there for six years in the 60's and had my
first ride on a passenger train from St Joe to Omaha.

Pete,
I have a friend that is a now retired engineer
from UP that ran on the old CGW line through St
Joe. He said it was always a challenge to get
through there.

Thanks Bill ...I'm very familiar with St. Joe and the
CGW operation through there...Talk about
"convoluted"....It's a wonder they ever got a
train though St. Joe in one piece and in any kind of
expedicious handling.
I'll check these out.

Looking through the Chicago Great
Western Collection, there are several
photos of St. Joseph MO and
one of Beverly, MO. The CGW
had trackage

CB&Q through St. Joseph.
