Wording on train orders depended on what office and the practice used by that office(under direction of the Chief Dispatcher and or Supt. ) Same applies to the dispatcher sitting in the chair. In later years all passenger trains had to have set up meets rather then right-over-and wait orders which were nothing but a new schedule for the named (in order) trains. It also depended on the background of the Dispatcher sitting in the chair. ie with the influx of ex-Amtrak DS from the Philly office phrases from that office begin to be used. Another example is in the definitions. The last book written on the BN was written by a former BN Chief from the Galesburg office and had started in the former Hannibal office and he did not put in Waycar??
One of the reasons for the whole 35 years as a dispatcher in Cicero, Galesburg and Ft. Worth I always stayed on the Chicago Region and more specific Chicago and Ottumwa Divisions. Steve in SC retired and enjoying it. Noel I too have seen the "coupled" language. In fact BRHS Bulletin 50 which will be coming out in the not too distant future features an order with that language. This order leads me to believe there are two separate extra wests. Leo Phillipp Sent from my iPad
