The Q carried cream to the Galva Creamery at Galva until the late 50's or after. We loaded cream on Beardstown Division train #12 until it came off in 1957. I still have can tags for that creamery. Of course, the cream was sour by the time it got there but it still would make butter just not "sweet cream" butter! The “Milk District” for Chicago extended all the way to Earl at one time but for the period recorded nothing was shipped from further than Plano. The Q’s milk business went out pretty early unlike the C&NW which had a strong business until the highways got paved in the Chicago area during the 20s and 30s and trucks could take over. Charlie Vlk
