Leo,
In an off-line discussion with Jim Miller we talked a bit about the topic of the C&I Division. I asked Jim for his definition of the C&I line. Jim responded, "The C&I actually referred to the line from Aurora to East Dubuque - it meant the Chicago and Iowa. The line north of there was built as the Chicago Burlington and Northern. Subsequently all the line was referred to as the Twin Cities line although the C&I moniker stayed until the end." Are Jim's recollections consistent with yours?
When did the practice of a conductor having an "assigned" waycar end on the C&I line?
When did CB&Q waycar pools begin and were the waycars on the C&I line effected?
Did "pool" waycars or could "pool" waycars have gone beyond a division or sub-division boundary?
Do you know who might have Russ Repetto's document collection? I believe that I read on another forum about conductors keeping "back-up" records of cars in their trains, contents, etc. as a back-up for the documents that might have been transferred from one conductor to another as a train moved from district to district etc.. That must have required some pretty intensive record keeping for freight trains by a conductor. They didn't have copy machines to expedite the duplication of information. In another discussion with Jim Miller he mentioned that Russ's collection might have some pretty significant information about waycars on th C&I.
Later, Dave S. Tucson, AZ

They are organized by "schedule" rule so it's a challenging search when looking for something specific
