In further response to Ted's question about an LCL meat reefer while I've never seen, heard or read anything about one it would seem to be a logical service. Just think about all the branch lines and each town has one or two meat markets. They surely can't handle a c/L so some type off stop off or LCL meat car would seem reasonable prior to paved roads and truck delivery. You will read about veal moving as express in an upcoming Zephyr article on a branch line motor car. I do know my home town of Yorkville,IL had a couple meat markets and the meat was delivered by rail. Can't imagine that a town of less than 3,000 could justify a full C/L. On the other hand would the meat packers partial load a car direct for such a small location ?
