Duncan: The 3537 ran on the Villisca-Corning (Tarkio Valley) branch for many
years...Jim Christen and I rode it several times in the 1950's...I don't think
it made it all the way to the end of through service (September 1958) on that
line since Jim and Charlie Able made an end of the line trip down from Villisca
to Corning in August of 58 and Jim's photos show a converted motorcar as the
waycar at that time.

If I can be of help with anything regarding the 3537 I'll be glad to help...I'm
not a modeler nor do I have any interest in same, but I might be able to come
up with an "in use" photo or two

Pete

Scott,
It's the branchline combine, 3537, which I've posted about before that I'm
considering modeling. I have two NKP kits, and certainly plan to obtain several
others eventually. It appears, having blown Bill Glick's wonderful drawing up
to full-size for HO that the Branchline single-window coach is a bit short (at
about 78 feet). Does anyone know if the Walthers' coach is 80 feet and how
easily it might come apart?
Duncan

Duncan,

Depending on what cars you want to model, I would suggest checking out the
available CB&Q cars from NKP Products at their website. As I recall, he has
kits for at least a dozen CB&Q heavyweight cars. I suppose some of these might
also serve as a starting point for kitbashing as well.

Hi group.
In my future there's some kitbashing of heavyweight cars that will have to
happen and I wondered if anyone has had a go at using either a Walthers or
Branchline coach as a starting point. I suspect I'll be using ends, roof and
floor pretty much as is -- although I'll need to remove the side doors from the
vestibule leaving the vestibule itself open to view (so the construction of the
vestibule is a consideration). The sides I imagine I'll need to build from
scratch for the most part. If anyone is willing to share experiences, I'd
appreciate it (or recommend another starting point).
Duncan Cameron
