Hi there -
As we are talking about Q stations and depots, I lived for four years in
Fort Collins while attending Colorado State University 1963-1967. I
remember C&S trains - and UP trains as well - running through Fort
Collins. The most obvious scene was C&S trains running down the tracks on
Mason Ave. While I was there, trains 29-30 ran through Fort Collins in the
darkness of early morning, but I do not remember a station stop there.
Looking in Kenneth Jessen's Railroads of Northern Colorado, I find that Fort
Collins did have a C&S stone depot built in 1899, but it was torn down due
to auto traffic concerns in 1952-53. The C&S brick freight station to the
north of the depot, built in 1906, at 136 LaPorte Ave, still stands, but it
is now the Downtown Transit Center.

As passenger service remained in Fort Collins until 9/2/67, where did
passengers buy tickets, set down baggage for loading, and board 29 or 30 in
Fort Collins after 1953? Was it the freight station or another location?
I did not get up early enough in the morning to ride 29 or 30, but I did
chase a school train trip with Q #4960 through the streets of Fort Collins
on my bicycle with my Rolleicord 2 1/4 in hand. I still have the B&W
negatives.
