Per a list mbr request:

Beginning in approx 1900, CB&Q TT's took their modern day format with a full
index of all stations at front of TT. Pre-1900 TT's only had indexes of line
segments; i.e. Savanna to LaCrosse, thus it takes a LOT of time to find all
the station names (and pre-1880's have no indexes, just 'tables')

I found nearly 80 Stations listed in 1900 that had disappeared by 1909. Some
due to abandonments & line realignments but mostly because RR's had begun to
close stations in tiny towns (or the town had 'died'). I know by going thru
old Iowa RR Commissioners' Reports that the CB&Q (& other RR's) closed stations
in towns of as few as 16 people. Either the town was a 'spec' town that never
developed, had been a fuel stop now bypassed, a mining town that died, etc. I
tried to weed out name changes (such as Dunleith, IL becoming East Dubuque and
Sharps, IA becoming Sharpsburg) but a few of these may just be that: name
changes. Also a very few reappeared in later yrs. Note too there are a number
of 'crossings' - I checked the Tables and indeed train times were shown for
these 'Stations' which is normally only shown for Passenger tables if it's a
stop. I've seen old photos of such Xings with people around so apparently when
trains were far more frequent and the ONLY way to travel more than a couple
miles, even Xings in the middle of nowhere would have stops (need to get
comparable old TT's for Milw, RI, Wabash, etc to see if their branches also had
stops at these crossings and at somewhat comparable times). Note: even as
early as 1900 a couple stations are shown in the index but with note they are
'freight only' & not shown in the TT proper.

The request was made so when coming across old photos of depot's, etc but NO RR
named, you know which might be CB&Q, esp. if town was only served by the Q or
its predecessors.
