I, for one, would much like to learn about the routing of NP (and GN???) trains to and from Chicago prior to their being handled by the CB&Q. I do know that for a time, at least, the NP used C&NW Terminal... some time after the GN & NP controlled the CB&Q. Previous to this discussion I had not heard anything about the Milwaukee Road bringing in NP trains into Chicago. I don't know about the scholarly credentials of Mr. Overton. He certainly had the advantage of full access to company records. I haven't looked at any of his works to see how much non-CB&Q archival material he used to support his writing.... but having two sources is laudable. His position with the company certainly had the potential to influence the advisability of avoiding any unpleasantries uncovered about the CB&Q or its management making it into print....human nature and business haven't changed that much!! I don't know that we're looking to stir up any dark plots against the memory of the CB&Q or defame anyone.... This is one of the first bonefide CB&Q history discussions we've had that aren't equipment, places or recent operations that I can recall!!! Charlie Vlk ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
