Please don't feel bad about being confused, you weren't! So many times one
photo can raise many questions. Trains Magazine put out some slide sets one of
those slides showed #9960 ABC, if I remember right, stating they were being
used on the Twin Zephyr. The slide only shows the lead F unit. Since the pilot
coupler doors have been removed I think the shot was taken while the 3 unit set
was still in passenger paint but hauling a freight train.
Although the boilers were removed and all three sets were geared for freight
service they never got dynamic braking.
