Thanks for the avalanche of info re the above subject....My wife never ceases
to be amazed at the extent of the response to some of my nonsensical
inquiries....She never reads them, just comes up and tells me...well, you've
stirred
them up again....;one of my few pleasures left here in my declining years.
I suspected that the basic use of the device was to "wet down" the crossing
to minimize the dust kicked up by passing trains...I had just never heard of
the device before.
I again recommend the ICC website for entertaining reading...lots of little
"factoids" are there...I usually read a few each day.
