Mark,
I always thought that the Wind River Canyon would make a great layout, the
river is where the viewer stands and very short area to model. But got stuck on
the Bonneville to Lysite as during my time in Thermopolis (1955) my mother had
the foresight to realize that passenger service would end and for our birthday
(all three are in March) we got a train ride from Thermopolis to Bonneville. My
dad and mom rode over in the car and picked us up. I lived in Riverton a few
years and and hunted in the Owl Creek mountains so that is the reasons I model
this area. Was all narrow gauge (Slim Rails Colorado Springs, CO) until my
retirement from the Army then hooked up with the crew in Sheridan and got
CB&Qized so I have a mythical narrow gauge line into the Owl Creek Mountains
that is the Big Horn Southern ( I know it is misplaced but have always
woundered why they named it that in Montana when the southern end of the Big
Horns is near Casper and Powder River.) But any way I will review your site and
offer suggestions, you must remember that I don't know it all. You might
contact Don Zinnecker he has plans of the depots or type depots they are like
the plans that was in the Burlington boxes, I have turned them into what I call
cutting templates and will share, but are large so we should do this off the
list. I'm moving so will have to unpack and that before doing so. I graduated
from Casper, got to go on the train trip for Cheyenne Wy football game, 1962
was a steam engine with heavyweight cars and 1963 a desiel engine with
heavyweight cars. Great time, we hit a pickup at Douglas in 1962 and the train
was not hurt fortunaltely the driver of the truck was not either. Was standing
in the converted Baggage car (to snack bar) looking out open door wondered what
the stuff was that went flying by. We were not delayed long because we made the
game on time.
