Y'all,

I also enjoyed seeing 261. I was lucky enough to catch her both days, the
first by pure luck. I was returning from a family shindig Saturday, and just
happened to be "in the right place at the right time" in order to catch her
northbound at speed at Galva, IL. WOW! I've chased many steamers with camera
in hand, and worked behind a few as a car host. It was nice to just stand
there and enjoy the show for a change.

Sunday, a friend and I chased from Galesburg to Galva, giving me the chance
to snap a few shots. We started our photography at the servicing facility.
There was a nice mix of diesels there to add color to the photos, and as
always, the bridge over the yards made for a perfect vantage point. Then we
headed for the south end of the yard. As 261 was being turned, we caught her
coming down onto the Quincy main.

I'll also drop a note when I get these photos back. The rest of the chase, I
was concentrating on pan shots. I'm crossing my fingers that they turn out!

One thing is for sure, seeing ANY steam on the Q is better than nothing. We
were talking this weekend about how lucky we are to live close to so much
action.

Stan

BTW, I'm planning my first trip this weekend via Amtrak on the Q from Macomb
to Chicago. It will be a daylight trip. Are there any railroad points of
interest that I should look out for?
