Hi Rich...Well there are two major external differences. First, the exhaust stacks on the SW's were offset to the firemans side. This was due to the Winton 201-A in line 8 cyl. engine, as opposed to

Yup...It would take a major splice of the hood to stretch it. I only mentioned the SC model in case you want one. If an NW-1 was made in the 60's, I think I would forget it. It would be so crude. As

Rich: In the early days EMD linked HP to model type. That method soon gave way. Hence SW = 600hp, NW - 900 hp, FT = 1350 (1400 rounded up, so they used F, E unit - 1800 hp as in the EA model. ed
