Rich: if you study enough Marty Bernard or Larry Sallee photos, it seems that the roof of those concrete sheds is only slightly darker than the body of the building itself. I would suggest brush painting some sort black enamel to simulate the tar and immediately dust it with a sand colored weathering chalk. Any grit coarser than chalk would seem more like a caricature or exaggeration for a surface that small and draw attention to what is basically a background element.  That is my spin on it.
