Leo--this is just a guess, but I would guess the Oregon wye was put in to turn the Forreston mixed before the line was cut back to Mount Morris in 1932. The Q and the IC shared the turntable, roundhouse and depot at Forreston so the power was turned at that end. We had quite a discussion several years ago about where the Forreston crew was based, but we concluded that it was based in Forreston. Mike Spoor and I spent years researching the C&I. He located and interviewed a guy, then in his 90s, who worked the Forreston job and stated it was based in Forreston. The mixed ping-ponged between Forreston and Oregon.
