When I first responded I was looking at the ebay listing on my phone. At that size it looked like two cars, not one. On my computer it's clearly one car, so belay my original post. I'll even go with red , not orange.

Thanks for the responses so far. I hadn’t heard of Dawn Yard and could find no reference to it but I’ve never been to Kansas City – and I’m unlikely to ever get there – so I accepted what the seller said at face value. I see that he has added an enlargement of the body of the box car following Hol’s contact with him, although I don’t think it adds a great deal. Colour shift has caught me out before but the other reds appeared about right so I discounted it.

I like the idea of a sand storage car painted for the occasion, unless more information comes to hand. The paint appears to be very bright, brighter  than the other units, suggesting that the paint job was recent.

Next job is to find something on the 50th Anniversary celebrations to see just what took place and where.
