Correct me if I am wrong but what I get from the report is that provisions for wetting, watering and feeding stock was mainly on the mainline and not on the branch lines.

The CNW drawing I sent was published in 1906 in a trade publication for Association of Railway Superintendents of Bridges and Buildings, which had a 17 page report on “Method of Watering Stock in Transit” with drawings and sketches of various hog drenchers at their annual gathering. As its part of an 800 page google book I can’t post it.
