Be sure to leave a big space for the limestone pit west of Kankakee. Quite an interesting operation and was served by both IC and NYC.

I'm planning to model the NYC "3-I" from South Bend to Ladd/Zearing/Churchill, and am in the research phase with my focus right now on the Ladd/Churchill/Zearing/Spring Valley/LaSalle/Peru/Hennepin/Oglesby area.  The extensive interchange and operations in this relatively small area is fascinating.
