Yes and no.  They're building parallel lines either on the same r-o-w or nearby.   And not just CS but so far also UP.  One exception is the UP's Dent branch whose track is being replaced.  The UP has ceased using most of it.  Norm

I wonder if the Denver RTD has any plans on "commuterizing" the former Q lines in Denver.....

The CBQ drew up plans for a Denver commuter service in the 1960's but shelved the idea when the Denver RTD came into being.  My source is a former CBQ employee who took part in the planning.  Norm

I'm sure we're all familiar with the Q's suburban service around Chicago. I'm wondering if the Q operated "commuter service" elsewhere. I ask as there's an item on ebay(152352955929) showing a 60 ride ticket for June 1907 between Liberty,MO and
KC. I seem to recall reading about numerous daily runs between Deadwood and the mines.
Could  Denver,St Paul,etc might be likely locations for daily short run service ?
