I would suggest to you that,I believe, an article on the Streator to Denrock branch would be welcomed for future publication. This branch isn't well known but had a fascinating,diverse amount of service,what with the NYC running aRound,your comment on miners runs,the huge number of pool turnsout of Ladd(Steve Holding feel free to chime in here) moving coal. Not to mention the later motors cars making unusual round trips to and from Mendota,the IV&N Wayfreight, the job(s) that came out of Galesburg and made a side trip to Streator. The yard jobs at La Salle and Streator,don't forget to add in the extra list that served those two towns and Ottawa. 

And don't forget the brickyard!

The June 4, 1916 Chicago and Aurora Division ETT shows trains 3, 7, 2 and 6 between LaSalle and Deer Park/Dickinson on the Streator to Denrock subdivision.  These appear to be for the miners as 7 departs Dickinson at 6:05PM arriving LaSalle 6:30PM and 3 departs 7:00AM for LaSalle arriving 7:25AM.  Train 6 departs 5:30PM arriving 5:55PM and train 2 departs 6:30AM arriving 6:55AM.  So in the morning 2 takes the miners to work and 3 brings the ending shift back home.  Same process in the evening.
